A Crazy Year
Not just the crazy weather but we have had a crazy busy year. You will have noticed (or not) that our bi-monthly newsletter / Blog post has missed several issues. Unfortunately, this is due to our own time constraints as we have prioritised development over communications due to time commitments. For this I apologise and hope to be more proactive in future.
What’s been happening?
Well, our two new Software Developers Janki and Jason are settled in and are now familiar with our tools and processes. The crazy steep learning curve they have both been on is starting to taper off and my time spent on coaching them is starting to decrease, but in this industry changes happen frequently, and we do our best to keep up with new tools and technologies, so there is always more to learn.
Janki has been working with various Client’s development projects and in between these she is working on building the Web based version of our popular Sales Growth and Contact Relationship Manager – LEADS for Windows. LEADS will help you track all your Contacts details and record interactions with likely New Customers as well as helping you to grow your business based somewhat on the proven successful process taught by Sales Impact Group. Watch this space for updates on OurLEADS.net and in the meantime click the link to check out the FREE version of LEADS for Windows.
Meanwhile Jason has been flat out building our new Software as a Service web application Contest Master. Contest Master is a Contest or Competition Management tool. We have designed it to make the organising and running of Contests or Competitions quick and easy. Contest Master is still under development as we put some finishing touches to it, however we successfully trialled the system with the New Zealand National Championships of the NZ Federation of Amateur Winemakers and Brewers. This competition was run recently near Havelock North and attracted almost 500 bottle entries for judging. Contest Master Registered Competitors and their Entries, Allocated Judges and tracked Scores assigned, to calculate Awards due to Competitors. Visit ContestMaster.net to see more and if Your Organisation or Club is running or hosting a Contest, Competition or Show soon, you should definitely consider using Contest Master or at least contact us to discuss how Contest Master can simplify your life and the running of your next event.
Tech Tip
Again, as the end of year approaches, I must emphasise how important a reliable Backup is. Recently a client of ours had computer fail. This computer ran and stored their primary business system. They could no longer run the business, allocate Jobs to Staff, determine Stock on hand or even its location. Luckily, we had configured good reliable Hourly backups running to an external device. An old PC was found, and the key systems promptly restored so the business could continue to function normally.
I know of another business that had a great backup system they had relied on for years. Twice a day they ran their backup process and then took the resulting Backup drives physically off site to secure storage. Following a minor corruption, they needed to restore a single important file. The most recent backup device was retrieved and low and behold was discovered to be empty! A small change to their network a few months back had resulted in the backup not being able to correctly access the critical data! Luckly only one file was lost! -It could have been the whole business!
So, I ask you to Check your own backups. Are they running regularly and correctly. Have you tested to see if your key data is really being backed up? And have you tested to confirm that it can be readily restored without driving you crazy?
Hopefully, the answer is Yes! – If not feel free to Contact Us in the New Year for assistance.
Hardware supply
We are also pleaded to advise we can now supply new PC’s and other computer hardware at quite competitive prices due to our growing relationship with wholesale vendors. Please let us know if you are considering a new purchase and we may be able to undercut your current supplier…
